Thieves managed to get into a bank by "smashing their way through" an extractor fan vent on the roof, police said.

Two men wearing white overalls and gloves broke into the NatWest in Station Road, Clacton.

It is thought they stole about £4,000 in the break in, which happened on Saturday at about 03:30 BST.

Essex Police said the men searched the branch but left when an alarm went off.
