Man charged with five offences after police fail to stop car

A 24-year-old man has been charged with five offences after a car failed to stop for police in Essex.

Officers tried to stop a Saab convertible after it was seen being driven erratically at Bromley Road in Colchester on Saturday morning.

The car was followed to Alefounder Close in Greenstead where it was abandoned and a man was arrested later.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, having no insurance and an invalid driving licence.

He was also charged with affray at Colchester on 3 October last year.
