Shoebury chip shop robbery: Charlotte Leeks commended

21 August 2013 Last updated at 10:28 BST

A woman who foiled a robber armed with a chisel at her family's fish and chip shop in Essex has received a police commendation for her "brave actions".

Charlotte Leeks, 21, from Chelmsford, and her brother David, stood up to the masked raider in January 2011 when he struck after the shop in Shoebury had closed for the night.

Mr Leeks' efforts were recognised at the National Public Bravery Awards last year.
