Clacton police officer charged with sex assaults

A 40-year-old Essex police officer has been charged with a number of sex assaults.

PC Neil Culham, based in Clacton, was arrested in February after two women alleged they had been assaulted between August 2012 and January 2013.

The officer, who is currently suspended from duty, was charged with seven counts of sexual touching and one of perverting the course of justice.

He was bailed to appear before Ipswich Magistrates on 2 September.

Essex Police's professional standards department had instigated the investigation, supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
