Braintree mosque 'attack' man appears in court

A man has appeared in court in connection with an incident at an Islamic centre in Braintree.

Geoffrey Ryan, from Brick Kiln Way in the town, was charged with affray and two counts of possessing a weapon.

Appearing earlier at Colchester Magistrates' Court, Mr Ryan confirmed his address but did not enter a plea.

An application for bail was refused. The 43-year-old is due to reappear before magistrates via videolink on 30 May.
