A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man found stabbed to death at a house in Essex.

Michael Brennan, 22, of The Green, Chelmsford, appeared at the city's magistrates' court after a body was found at Moulsham Street in the early hours of Saturday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday.

The victim, aged 54 and from the Watford area, died from stab wounds, a post-mortem examination revealed.

Formal identification of the body is expected to be carried out later. However, a name will not be released by the coroner until an inquest opens later this week.
