Thomas Brittain stabbing: Man charged with murder

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murdering a musician at a flat in Essex.

Jack Hummerstone is accused of killing songwriter Thomas Brittain, 26, who was stabbed to death in Colchester in March.

Mr Hummerstone, of no fixed address, will appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He is also charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He was arrested at a property in Errol Street, Islington, London, at 03:00 BST on Sunday.

Mr Brittain, who was also a music producer and was known as Twister, was killed at a friend's flat in Colchester's Parkside Quarter, in the early hours of 9 March.

A 22-year-old man from London, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Andre Vella, 19, from Village Close, Kirby Cross, near Frinton, appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court on 14 March charged with Mr Brittain's murder and was remanded in custody.
