Uttlesford Council held up as model authority


An Essex council which nearly went bankrupt seven years ago has been held up by the government as one of the best run authorities in the country.

Uttlesford District Council, which covers the area around Stansted Airport and Saffron Walden, has not only preserved its front line services but has also managed a cut in council tax.
