Grays terrace fire: man charged with arson

Houses on fire in Grays, Essex Residents were woken as police broke into their homes

A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fire that caused more than £210,000 of damage to a row of houses in Essex.

The fire broke out in the terrace in London Road, Grays, the early hours of Saturday.

Danny Fisher, of no fixed address, has been charged with arson with intent and reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He is in police custody and will appear at Southend Magistrates' Court later.

He is also charged with criminal damage to another property in Grays on the same night.

Eighteen people had to be led to safety, including several people who were woken by police who broke into their homes to help them leave.
