A dog ended up at the centre of a fire service and coastguard rescue operation after he fell down a cliff.

A family was walking along the top of the Naze at Walton in Essex when their springer spaniel fell.

The emergency services found the dog, Buddy, on a ledge about 10ft (3m) down the 60ft (18m) cliff face.

Rescuers from Walton Coastguard found him "muddy but uninjured" when they abseiled down to retrieve him.
