A12 near Chelmsford reopens after lorry sheds rubbish
The lorry overturned after colliding with a Ford Focus
Part of the A12 in Essex was closed for several hours after a lorry shed its load of an estimated 20 tonnes of rubbish in a crash.
The lorry and a Ford Focus car collided on the northbound carriageway, close to Junction 16, near Chelmsford, at around 06:30 GMT.
The driver of the lorry was trapped in his cab and had to be released by firefighters. He was taken to hospital but was later released.
The road reopened at about 15:00.
Gary Sanderson, East of England Ambulance Service, said: "The lorry driver was found trapped in the cab by his legs and the steering wheel.
"Paramedics and the hazardous area response team operatives worked extremely hard to treat, stabilise and immobilise him before he was taken to Basildon Hospital for further care."
