Essex stacks up salt stores ready for big freeze

Essex County Council has stockpiled a mountain of salt to ensure the roads are kept clear this winter, even if there is a big freeze.

This year for the first time the public will be able to track the county's fleet of 60 gritters live on the internet.

The council hopes that will make it easier to see which roads have been gritted, and where the gritters are headed next.
