Man charged over Benfleet cable theft attempt

A 43-year-old has been charged over an attempted cable theft in Essex in which his suspected accomplice died.

Police alerted to a power failure in the Benfleet area found the man's body by a rail line on 27 June. It is believed he was electrocuted.

Mark Bradshaw has been charged with endangering rail passengers and the attempted theft of electrical cable.

Mr Bradshaw, 43, of Canvey, is due before Southend magistrates on 12 November.
