Uttlesford council offers £500,000 Jubilee Fund

Community projects in north-west Essex are being invited to bid for a share of £500,000 available through housing developments in the area.

Uttlesford District Council has set up a 'Jubilee Fund' using money received from the government's New Homes Bonus.

This pays local authorities based on the rate of completion of building projects in the area.

Half of the money will be for community and voluntary groups, the other for town and parish council's.

The authority said groups could apply for a maximum of £10,000 and a minimum of £1,000 and stipulated projects should be completed by March 2013.

The deadline for applications is mid-July.
