Man, 18, killed in Billericay car crash is named

An 18-year-old man who died when a car hit a wall in Essex has been named by police.

Dale Carlier from Hutton near Brentwood was killed when the car in which he was travelling left the road in Billericay at about 01:50 BST on Saturday.

Mr Carlier was taken to Basildon Hospital where he died a short time later, Essex Police said.

Three other men in the black Ford Fiesta were also taken to the hospital.

The men were injured when the car left Western Road, hitting a wall and electricity pole and overturning.

A 20-year-old man from the Brentwood area suffered head and arm injuries. A 20-year-old from the Romford area also suffered injuries to his arm.

A 17-year-old from the Brentwood area was injured in his pelvis and face. All three are in a stable condition in hospital.

Essex Fire Service said several homes were left without power after the crash in which power lines were brought down.

A section of the road was closed for about four hours while forensic investigators carried out tests.

Mr Carlier's family have been told.
