Tory MP Douglas Carswell attacks charity tax changes

Clacton's Conservative MP Douglas Carswell has added his voice to criticism of the government decision to tax charitable donations.

Mr Carswell said he believed the government should be giving tax breaks in order to help civil society and promote philanthropy.

He said that as a member of the legislature, his job was to hold the government to account when they had got it wrong, and this time they were wrong.
