Two charged with murder of man in Westcliff

A man and a woman have been remanded in custody after the murder of a 53-year-old man at his flat in Essex.

The body of Roy Sly was discovered by police at his home in Station Road, Westcliff, earlier this week.

Vincent Harty, 38, of Wakering Avenue, Shoebury, and Lisa Turner, 32, of Snakes Lane, Southend, appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court.

They were remanded in custody charged with murder and will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 17 January.

Police said Mr Sly's death took place between 8 and 10 January.
