Sugar Hut nightclub fight suspect bailed

A 33-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a fight outside an Essex nightclub, has been released on conditional bail.

Nicky Morgan, 25, who played in goal for Billericay Town, suffered a neck injury in an assault outside the Sugar Hut in Brentwood on 28 October.

Mr Morgan, from Loughton, was left paralysed from the shoulders down.

Essex Police said the 33-year-old man from Sittingbourne would return to answer bail on 24 February.

Mr Morgan has been treated in Queen's Hospital in Romford since the incident but is expected to be transferred to Stoke Manderville Hospital for rehabilitation later.

The fight which led to his injury involved 10 men behind the nightclub.
