Injured Essex paratrooper fights back to health

Help

A year after he was injured so badly in Afghanistan he almost lost his leg, a paratrooper from Essex has returned to his favourite sport.

L/Cpl Tony Fitzpatrick, who is based at Colchester, was shot four times when his patrol came under fire in darkness in Helmand Province last December.

He underwent five operations and at one stage amputation of his right leg was a very real possibility.
