Man dies as crash car catches fire at Essex garden centre

A man, believed to be in is 60s, has died after his car crashed and caught fire near an Essex garden centre.

The incident happened in the centre's car park at Hullbridge Road, Rayleigh, on Sunday night.

Police were called by the fire brigade who were alerted by members of the public who had seen flames.

The man's body was found beside the car that was believed to have hit two parked vehicles at the centre before igniting, police said. A dog also died.
