Woman hurt in crash involving Essex police car on 999 call

A woman has been was injured in a crash involving an Essex Police car that was responding to an emergency call.

A marked Ford Focus estate was in collision with a VW Polo at Flag Hill, Great Bentley, near Colchester at about 20:20 BST on Sunday.

The female driver of the Polo was taken to Colchester Hospital with back pains.

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash at the junction of Dead Lane and has begun an internal inquiry.

Anyone who saw the collision or either of the cars immediately beforehand is asked to contact Sgt Jason Dearsley at the Stanway road policing unit.
