Essex Police make Facebook 'riot incitement' arrest

Police in Essex have arrested a 17-year-old boy after comments were made on Facebook allegedly encouraging others to meet in the county and riot.

The teenager from Clacton is being held on suspicion of incitement to commit violent disorder.

"Police are monitoring social networks and will take decisive action to prevent people using them for criminal purposes," a spokesman said.

The boy was arrested at 17:00 BST and remains in police custody.

Essex Police have deployed at least 50 officers to assist the Met Police during a fourth night of riots in London.
