Row over children's beauty salon in Brentwood, Essex
The salon opened on the same day a report into the sexualisation of children was published
A child protection charity has expressed concern over a new beauty parlour in Essex aimed at youngsters.
New firm Trendy Monkeys in Brentwood describes itself as a "kids fun salon and princess parlour".
Claude Knights, director of charity Kidscape, said she was worried about the message the treatments give about the "commercialisation of childhood".
But the owner of Trendy Monkeys, Michelle Devine, said the concerns were "ridiculous".
"I am making little girls into princesses, that is it," she added.
The row follows a government backed report by Reg Bailey which expressed concerns over the sexualisation of children.

What happened to letting children be children. i understand letting your child wear a bit of lipstick at home with your mum, but i was NOT aloud out like it. It might start innocent but what next, Nail extensions. It's not right.

Cannot help but think that vitriol is aimed at the wrong target, while I find the idea of a beauty saloon for children abhorrent surely the real villains of the piece are the parents who will frequent this establishment with their ‘princesses’. The place can only remain open it the customers come through the door, therefore, one has to assume that there is a demand. Simple economics.

A young girl puts on nail polish is she suddenly sexually exploiting herself. Maybe we shouldn't let her put on mum's clothes, lipstick or high heels. Don't want her to be the target of pedophiles. Wearing that Maybe we should get rid of her baby born as well. We don't want to her to become pregnant at age 10.
Beauty salon= sexualisation of children= big overreaction.

It is bad enough seeing little girls of 4 upwards with studs through their noses & tattoos on their bodies..& I have even seen a toddler about the age of 6 wearing high heals, mini skirt & low cut top with a bare tummy!!!NOW we have this to contend with! Those who cannot see the out right immoral way this is heading need to re-evaluate their intelligence!Along with good manners I was taught modesty
