Person dies in Poole seafront house fire

Pearce Avenue fire, Poole About 40 firefighters tackled the blaze on the first floor of the property

A person has died in a house fire near the Poole seafront.

About 40 firefighters tackled the large blaze in the seaside town at the property on Pearce Avenue in Lower Parkstone at about 13:35 BST.

Dorset Police said the identity of the victim was not yet known.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "At the height of this incident eight fire engines were dealing with a well developed fire in the first floor and roof space."

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
