Plans have been submitted to turn a derelict building in Bournemouth into a joint police and youth drop-in centre.

The new hub will be based in the the former Argos building in Boscombe.

It will bring together the Boscombe Regeneration team, Dorset Police Safer Neighbourhood officers and youth services on the ground floor.

If the plans are approved, the services could move in to the building by the end of 2014, Bournemouth Borough Council said.

The former Argos shop on Christchurch Road, opposite the Crescent, has been empty since January 2012.

The regeneration team will relocate from its existing base in Roumelia Lane, while the police's Safer Neighbourhood team will be given office space, interview rooms and meeting facilities at the new site.
