Pedestrian dies in Wareham night-time crash

South Causeway in Wareham South Causeway was closed for nearly nine hours after the crash

A man died when he was hit by a car in Dorset in the early hours.

The 29-year-old, from Stoborough, was struck on South Causeway, Wareham, at about 00:25 BST by a Mazda, driven by a woman from Poole. He died at the scene.

The road remained closed between the bridge at Wareham and at Stoborough for collision investigation work. It reopened at 09:05 BST.

Dorset Police has asked anyone who was travelling in either direction on the Causeway at the time to come forward.

The man's next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
