Bournemouth police officer assaulted in car chase crash

Three people including a police officer have been hurt and a house damaged in a car chase which led to a crash.

A stolen silver VW Passat failed to stop for officers in Wallisdown Road, Bournemouth, at about 00:45 BST and then collided with a yellow Skoda in Edgehill Road.

An officer broke their wrist while arresting two men in the stolen car.

A house and two other cars were damaged in the crash. The Skoda driver and passenger suffered minor injuries.

A 24-year-old from Ferndown and a 23-year-old from Bournemouth were arrested using Tasers.

They were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent and the 24-year-old was also arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Dorset Police said specialist operational officers have been called in to assist in the investigation alongside Bournemouth CID.
