Armed robber raids Boscombe bookmakers with hammer

An armed robber threatened an employee at a betting shop with a hammer before running away with cash.

The man raided Ladbrokes in Christchurch Road, Boscombe, at 18:25 BST on Wednesday.

The amount of cash taken has not been disclosed.

The suspect is a white man in his mid-thirties, about 5ft 9ins tall with short black hair. He was wearing a white shirt with a black pin-striped suit jacket and jeans.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Det Insp Mark Samuel, of Bournemouth CID, said: "We were able to obtain very high quality CCTV images very quickly in relation to this incident.

"I am hoping that somebody will be able to recognise the suspect from these photographs."

No arrests have been made.
