Dog dies in 90ft Durlston Head cliff plunge

A dog has died after falling 90ft (27m) from a cliff in Dorset.

The Labrador, called Elsa, fell from a cliff close to Durlston Castle at Durlston Head, in Swanage, on Sunday afternoon.

Swanage Coastguard rescue team and the RNLI inshore lifeboat recovered the 16-month-old animal, which died from its injuries, from the sea.

The dog's owner was said to be "absolutely distraught".
