Dorset cyclist killed in collision with car

A 78-year-old cyclist has been killed in a collision with a car near an Army base in Dorset.

He was killed in the crash with a Mitsubishi 4x4 between Gallows Hill and Waddock Cross, near Bovington Camp, Wareham, at about 15:10 GMT.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "As a result of the collision the cyclist sustained injuries and was sadly declared deceased at the scene."

Both the male driver and the cyclist are believed to be from the local area.

Police are in the process of informing the cyclist's next of kin.
