Lytchett Matravers homes without gas for 24 hours

More than 600 homes in Dorset have been without gas for 24 hours.

Southern Gas Networks said a fault at a pressure reduction station on Sunday affected homes in Lytchett Matravers, near Poole.

A spokeswoman said the problem had been fixed by 14:30 GMT, but engineers would still need to visit individual homes to restore supplies.

She said: "We are hoping to restore gas supplies to the majority of homes tonight."

An incident centre was set up at the village hall to offer information and advice to residents.

Engineers had to visit every affected home to turn off their supplies before gas could be reintroduced back into the network.
