Dorset hospital staff make kung-flu music video
Staff at two hospital trusts in Dorset have made a music video in a bid to encourage colleagues to get their annual flu jabs.
Workers at Poole, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals adapted the 1974 Carl Douglas hit to create Kung-Flu Fighting.
The four-minute video features the Flus Brothers, The Moody Flus and the Jabby Road zebra crossing.
Its performers include medical staff, chaplains, porters and executives.
Martin Smits, director of nursing and patient services at Poole Hospital, appears in the video with colleagues from the hospital's executive team.'Serious message'
He said: "We know the take-up of these vaccinations is good but we recognise there is still room for improvement.
"This year we wanted to present these important messages in a fresh and memorable way - our occupational health and communications teams certainly rose to this challenge.
"Underneath the fun, there is of course a very serious message for our staff - having a flu jab is the responsible thing to do, and will help us to continue to offer the high quality care our patients rightly expect from us throughout the winter."
Last month, health secretary Jeremy Hunt warned hospital trusts they would not be given access to millions of pounds of extra A&E funding next winter if they failed to vaccinate more staff.
