Homes in Three Legged Cross evacuated after crash causes gas leak

Residents had to leave their homes in Dorset after a car crash ruptured a gas main.

The car hit the main at Verwood Road, Three Legged Cross, causing it to leak in the early hours.

The occupants of four homes were led to safety and a 200m cordon was put in place while workers made the gas main safe.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the female driver escaped from her vehicle unhurt.
