Dorset divers treated for effects of decompression

Two divers have been treated for the effects of decompression after being rescued off the Dorset coast.

Portland Coastguard Helicopter airlifted a man and a woman to a recompression unit in Poole following separate incidents on Saturday.

A 68-year-old man and a woman, whose age is not known, both showed signs of the bends after rapid ascents from depth.

Both divers received treatment from a dive doctor and ambulance staff.

Last year, Portland Coastguard dealt with 40 cases of decompression illness in divers.
