Christchurch beach body-find prompts two arrests

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead on a beach in Dorset.

The body was found in water near groynes at Seaway Avenue, Christchurch at about 21:00 BST on Monday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, at Steamer Point, but has not yet been formally identified. Police said the coroner had been notified.

Two men, aged 49 and 51, from Bournemouth were later arrested and are helping police with their inquiries.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and want to speak to anyone who was in the area of Friars Cliff between 21:00 and 21:30 on Monday.
