DNA search over Dorset swan crossbow attack

DNA evidence is being sought in the search for attackers who speared two swans with a crossbow, leaving one dead.

The RSPCA has handed part of a crossbow bolt from the attack to police for forensic examination.

The swan and its female mate were speared while on the water near Throop Mill in Bournemouth on Thursday.

The female died and the male needed emergency surgery to remove part of the bolt which became lodged in its rib.
