Weymouth rail services delayed by fire under train

Trains between Weymouth and Wareham were suspended after a fire underneath a train at the start of the morning rush hour.

Up to 20 passengers were led to safety from the train at Upwey Station while the train's crew put the fire out.

Services were suspended and others were facing delays of up to an hour. A bus service was put in place between between Dorchester South and Weymouth.

South West Trains said train services had now returned to normal.

A spokesperson for South West Trains - Network Rail Alliance said: "We would like to apologise to our passengers for any inconvenience caused."
