Exhausted Dorset climber rescued from cliff ledge

An exhausted climber had to be airlifted to safety after getting stuck on a cliff in Dorset.

The man became stranded on a ledge nearly 40ft (12m) down from the light house at Anvil Point.

His fellow climbers were unable to pull him back to the top and raised the alarm on Thursday afternoon.

The Portland Coastguard helicopter airlifted the uninjured man to the cliff top where he was assessed and reunited with his friends.
