Weymouth fishermen scramble to safety after boat capsizes
Two fishermen managed to scramble ashore after their boat capsized off Dorset.
The pair, one of which was aged about 60, were making their way across The Fleet in Weymouth at about 07:00 GMT when their rowing boat hit trouble.
A dog walker rang 999 after hearing shouts coming from the water.
One of the fishermen managed to swim ashore while the other clung to the boat, eventually reaching Chesil beach. They were treated by an ambulance crew.
A Portland Coastguard spokesman said: "As you can imagine they were very cold when they finally got to shore and needed to be checked over.
"One of them was a fairly good swimmer but the other clung to the boat until it made the beach."
He said it was unclear why the boat had capsized.
