Dorset man, 71, arrested over cannabis find

A 71-year-old Dorset man has been arrested after disembarking a ferry at Portsmouth with £64,000 of cannabis powder.

Border Force officers searched a car which had arrived from Caen, France, at the ferry terminal on Saturday and discovered 32kg (70.5lb) of the drug.

Andy Lumb, from Border Force, said: "As this detection shows, our officers are on constant alert."

The man, from Lyme Regis, has been bailed until 13 December.

Mr Lumb added: "We are determined to prevent this terrible trade which can have such a destructive impact on the lives of so many."
