Man dies after Swanage climbing accident

A 32-year-old man has died in hospital after a climbing accident on the Dorset coast.

The experienced climber, who was with his girlfriend at the time, was scaling Dancing Ledge in Swanage on Thursday afternoon.

Police said he was rescued from the sea and flown to Dorchester County Hospital by Portland Coastguard helicopter.

But he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His next of kin have been informed.
