Divers airlifted off Swanage after suffering the bends

Two divers have been airlifted after suffering from decompression sickness off the coast of Dorset.

The woman, 46, and the man, 55, showed symptoms of the condition, also known as the bends, after making a rapid ascent, off Swanage, on Saturday.

The coastguard helicopter was tasked after a call from dive vessel Skua.

The divers were flown to Poole's Whitecliffe landing site where they were met by the duty dive doctor from the Poole Recompression Chamber.
