2012 Olympics: Fire disrupts Weymouth opening ceremony

A fire has broken out at Weymouth Pavilion next to the beach hosting Weymouth and Portland's opening ceremony for the Olympics.

The pavilion was evacuated while firefighters tackled the blaze, but has now reopened.

An Olympic press conference was due to take place in the building but was moved to the quayside.

The fire is understood to have broken out in the men's toilet of the building, Dorset Fire and Rescue said.

Dorset Police said they managed crowds of up to 300 people.
