A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman found dead at flats in Weymouth.

The boy was held after Dorset Police were called to the home in Benville Road on Saturday afternoon following reports a woman had been injured.

When officers arrived at the address they discovered the woman's body.

Police searched the area, conducted door-to-door inquiries and said they wanted to speak to anyone who had seen anything suspicious locally.

A cordon was put in place around the property while forensic experts examined the scene.

The force helicopter was also involved in searching the surrounding area.

Det Insp Marcus Hester said: "Even though someone has been arrested, I would still like to speak with anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the Benville Road area between 11am on 20 July and 1pm on 21 July."

Police said the woman's relatives had not yet been informed.
