Workers strike across the South

Help

Public sector workers across the South have been picketing their places of work as thousands of people have taken part in strike action across the UK over pensions.

Some nurseries have taken on extra staff to cope with additional children and schools have taken in pupils from other schools which have closed.

Striking workers held rallies in towns and cities, including Dorchester, Southampton, Oxford and Reading. They are angry over changes to their pensions.

At Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, David Cameron said he thought the government had made a "very reasonable, very fair offer to public sector workers".
