Explosive boulder found in Wareham lay-by

An explosive device found in a lay-by in Dorset has been detonated by an army bomb team.

The large boulder with a drill hole and wires sticking out of it was found in off the A352 heading to Hethfelton Woods near Wareham on Tuesday evening.

Police said it was probably "very old" and left from historic construction work in the area.

A spokesman said it may even have been left from when the railway was built in the area in the late 19th Century.
