Two fires have destroyed areas of heathland in south Dorset.

The first fire in West Parley, near Bournemouth Airport, began on Sunday afternoon and destroyed 20 sq m (215 sq ft) of heath.

Police were called as the fire service said they believed it has been started deliberately.

The second fire destroyed 100 sq m (1,076 sq ft) of land at Wareham Forest shortly afterwards. The cause was thought to be accidental.

A 4X4 Unimog, used for tough terrain, was later drafted in to extinguish the flames.

The first fire was close to overhead electricity cables and was extinguished using "beaters".
