A group of travellers in Northbourne, Bournemouth, have been asked to move by Dorset Police and the council.

Six vehicles arrived on council-owned land next to Cherry Tree Nursery garden centre on Thursday.

They must now move otherwise a court order will be sought. The council said action is being taken to seek a court hearing as soon as possible.

If they refuse to leave the council will take futher action which could include eviction.

The land was once considered as a transit site for travellers.

This was ruled out in 2008 due to the proximity of a sewage works and the potential impact on vulnerable people with mental illnesses working at the garden centre.
