A CCTV image of four people who may have seen a motorist deliberately drive a car at a pedestrian has been released by police.

The attack in Newton Abbot in the early hours of 24 August is being treated as attempted murder.

A 22 year old suffered "potentially life-threatening injuries" when he was hit by a blue Peugeot 106 on The Avenue.

Two men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested and bailed until 20 October.

Officers believe an argument between two groups of men broke out at a takeaway in Queen Street. One group headed along The Avenue, but were struck by the vehicle.

The car was later found in the Sherbourne Road multi-storey car park.

Police say the witnesses they are keen to trace approached the injured man and may also have witnessed the earlier events at the takeaway.

The victim was taken to Torbay District Hospital and later transferred to Derriford Hospital.
