Police hunt man after 'serious assault' in Tiverton

A woman has suffered a "number of significant injuries" in a "serious assault" in Devon.

A man is being sought in connection with the attack in Tiverton.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance after the assault in the Park Road area of the town. The emergency services, including armed police, were called to the scene at about 17:30 BST.

Devon and Cornwall Police said "there was no risk to the public" and a number of officers were in the area.

Earlier, a police helicopter was seen above the Park Road area and at least 10 officers were seen close to Moorhayes Community Centre, where a number of vehicles were parked.
